1. Woonsocket Fugitive Wanted On Gun Charge Apprehended: Cops (patch.com) — Woonsocket residents are learning more about the arrest of 30-year-old Troy D. Morvan, a city man wanted on a fugitive from justice warrant tied to a Massachusetts firearm charge. State police say he was taken into custody by the Violent Fugitive Task Force, processed at the Lincoln Barracks, and arraigned in Providence County District Court.    

2. Woonsocket's Singleton Street Bridge Closing (patch.com) — Drivers in Woonsocket should prepare for the Singleton Street Bridge to close until early fall, with another shutdown coming in 2027 for rehabilitation work. RIDOT has laid out short detours for cars on nearby streets and a longer route for truck traffic through Massachusetts back toward Woonsocket, adding only a few minutes of travel time.

Beaudoin named dean of Brown University's School of Public Health (pbn.com subscription) — Woonsocket residents are getting noticed for local addiction treatment work: Brown University’s new School of Public Health dean, Dr. Francesca Beaudoin, has helped bring mobile opioid recovery services to the city through CODAC Behavioral Healthcare. Her appointment, effective June 1, highlights a statewide push to improve pain management, trauma recovery, and responses to the opioid epidemic that can directly affect care options in northern Rhode Island.    

4. Track & Field's Robinson-O'Hagan, Odeluga Out for Season Following Injuries - Ole Miss Athletics (olemisssports.com) — A standout track and field star from Woonsocket, Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan, has seen his record-setting Ole Miss career cut short by a serious leg injury that ends his 2026 season. The All-American thrower, hailed as one of the best in collegiate history, leaves college competition with multiple national titles and SEC records, and coaches expecting a strong professional and possibly Olympic future.
