Tiverton Man Wanted In Connection With Hit-And-Run Crash Nabbed: Cops (patch.com) — Woonsocket readers may want to know that local police helped locate and arrest 48-year-old George Andrews, who was wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash. State police say Woonsocket officers found him on Wednesday, leading to his transport to the Lincoln Woods Barracks and then to Sixth District Court for arraignment.
2. Woonsocket Woman Charged With Obstructing Officer: Police (patch.com) — Residents in Woonsocket are being informed that 57-year-old local resident Brunilda Johnson has been charged with obstructing an officer in the execution of his duty. State police say the arrest followed an investigation by the Special Victims Unit, and Johnson was processed at headquarters before being taken to Third Division District Court for arraignment.
3. Wheelchair ramp stolen from church in Woonsocket (turnto10.com) — Woonsocket police are asking residents to help find a stolen 5‑foot aluminum wheelchair ramp taken from Our Saviour's Parish Church on Smithfield Road. Neighbors and businesses are urged to check surveillance cameras and watch for anyone discarding or selling a similar ramp. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Gormley at 401-766-1212.
4. From police training to housing help, where $5.4M will be spent (newportri.com) — A new round of Rhode Island Foundation grants is sending part of $5.4 million to Rebuild Woonsocket, alongside dozens of nonprofits statewide focused on housing, health care, and job training. For Woonsocket residents, this means additional resources flowing directly into local revitalization efforts, while other awards support police crisis training, CNA education, arts, and social services across Rhode Island.
5. More RI tenants say they weren't warned their property manager was a sex offender (wpri.com) — Woonsocket tenants learned their former property manager was a high‑risk registered sex offender only after a TV investigation, raising concerns about how police handle community notifications. The report details how Woonsocket and other departments received automated alerts but tenants say they were never warned. State police now say they're working with all Rhode Island cities to tighten notification procedures.
