Officers and Woonsocket Rescue responded around 7:30 p.m., but investigators have released few details about what led to the confrontation or potential charges as the case remains under active investigation.
2. Suspect changes plea in 2023 deadly Woonsocket hit-and-run (wpri.com) — A North Attleboro man has been sentenced for a 2023 hit-and-run on Diamond Hill Road in Woonsocket that killed a 71-year-old pedestrian. Jared Travers changed his plea to no contest to failing to stop after an accident resulting in death and received a six-year suspended sentence, a $5,000 fine, and a three-year license suspension, while two traffic citations were dismissed.
3. Marcoccio's big night on the ground lifts Burrillville past Woonsocket in Division II football (woonsocketcall.com) — Woonsocket High's football team fell 41–18 at home to Burrillville, despite scoring first before the Broncos took control behind Joe Marcoccio's 293 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The Villa Novans, now 3–1 in Division II, will try to rebound on the road at West Warwick next Friday after turnovers and a fake punt shifted momentum away from Woonsocket.
