Applebee's Woonsocket restaurant to support the 15th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon presented by Arbella Insuranc

BOSTON (April 4, 2016) – Applebee’s announced today that the Woonsocket restaurant location is proud to support the 15th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon presented by Arbella Insurance Foundation. As part of the Applebee’s Serves campaign, created to ‘do good in the neighborhood,’ customers who dine at participating restaurants in Massachusetts and Rhode Island from April 4 through May 15 can add $1 or $5 to their bill to raise funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In 2015, Applebee’s raised more than $62,000 for the cause through their Radio-Telethon support.

The 2016 WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon will take place August 29 and August 30 at Fenway Park. Over the span of 36 hours and two Boston Red Sox games, the broadcast will feature compelling stories from Dana-Farber patients, doctors, researchers, nurses, celebrity guests, and athletes, inspiring people all over the world to contribute to Dana-Farber's lifesaving mission.

Jess Moran, of Somerville, will serve as the Dana-Farber patient partner to help bring awareness of the fundraiser. Jess was diagnosed at 24 years old in 2014 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Her treatment at Dana-Farber included chemotherapy and radiation. She is now in remission.

In her spare time, Jess enjoys bringing get-well cards to patients receiving cancer treatments at the hospital.
