Arrest Made Following Hit-And-Run That Injured Tow Truck Driver

WOONSOCKET, RI — Police have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run that injured a tow truck driver in late June. Kenneth Young, 39, was seriously injured when he was hit while getting ready to tow a disabled car on Cumberland Hill Road.

On June 30, Young was on the side of the road near Founder's Drive around 2:30 a.m. with his truck's emergency flashing lights on. As he was getting ready to tow the vehicle, he was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The driver did not stop, leaving Young seriously injured. He was later taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Later that morning, Cumberland police found an empty vehicle with serious front end damage consistent with the crash in a parking lot on Mendon Road.

Last Monday, Woonsocket Police identified Emily Lowe, 27, of Cumberland, as the owner of the vehicle and issued a warrant for her arrest. She was arrested at an impound lot where her vehicle had been taken on Friday. She was arraigned before a bail commissioner that night and released on $10,000 surety bail.
