Beacon Charter High Students Mix Good Effort In Mocktail Contest
Team's non-alcoholic recipe was up against 24 contenders at AMICA in Lincoln.
On behalf of the Woonsocket Prevention Coalition, students from the Beacon Charter High School's Students Against Dangerous Decisions (BADD) enjoyed an amazing night with over 250 students from 26 other schools across the state as they competed in MADD's 15th Annual Mocktail Celebrations April 12.
"Our students were not able to take one of the top three prizes this year, but we gave it a valiant effort with our entry called Pineapple Po-Po, aptly named after Lt. Robert Cabral, a victim of a drunk driver," said Vic Ramos, assistant executive director of the Woonsocket Prevention Coalition, "This delicious drink combines the health benefits of vanilla yogurt with the cleansing power of pineapple juice."

The students also met Lt. Cabral's sister, Josephine Leprey, who stopped by their booth to tell them more about her brother and his love for youth as a D.A.R.E. Officer.
"The WPC is extremely proud of the work and effort the students of BADD put into their presentation this year and we especially thank Deb Jarvis (assistant to the dean at Beacon Charter School) for her dedication to our wonderful partnership with Beacon," Ramos said.
