Here are the top five stories in Woonsocket today:

1. The Woonsocket Planning Board has approved Brisa Development’s plan to finish the conversion of the Bernon Mills complex into a mixed-use development with 60 apartments, commercial space, and a new recreational building. (The Woonsocket Call)

2. A man was shot dead on Randall Street in Pawtucket Saturday afternoon. Police say the shooting appears to be a "targeted" incident and they are not releasing the name of the victim at this time. (Patch)

3. Two men were shot on Camp Street in Providence Saturday afternoon and have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were at the Billy Taylor Park playground with their children at the time of the shooting. No arrests have been made at this time. (ABC6)

4. The last Jewish bakery in Rhode Island closed for good Saturday after over 100 years of business. The owner of Rainbow Bakery, located in Cranston, announced his retirement last month. (WJAR)

5. State regulators are opening up part of the Providence River to quahogging for the first time in 75 years, a sign that the water is cleaner than its been in generations. (The Providence Journal)

  • Rhode Island Quahog Week begins today, a week-long celebration that highlights the importance of Rhode Island's shellfish to the state's economy and culture. Participating restaurants and markets will offer specials and deals.
  • Age-Friendly Rhode Island is hosting a workshop, Tools for Managing your Health and Well-being, at 6 p.m. via Zoom. More information can be found here.
