Everyone, meet Main Street. Main Street, meet everyone...I think you'll really like each other

A description of a "Jane's Walk" project by a local Americorps Vista.

Hey Patchers!

If you've been meaning to get down to Main Street to browse around but haven't found the time, or if you've been wondering what's down here these days, we have a great way for you to rediscover the area.

Antonio Rogdriguez, a young man currently serving as an Americorps Vista here in the city, has put together a "Jane's Walk" this weekend with the goal of allowing all of us to come down and get to know many of the small business owners in our Main Street District. He describes his efforts as follows:

"Downtown Woonsocket offers many different experiences and services to local citizens. I hope to utilize the principles of Jane's Walk to explore these services and share them with the community at large. I believe it is a great opportunity for Woonsocket residents to meet the owners of the Main Street businesses and form mutually beneficial relationships. Jane's Walk is also a fun and exciting way to get people to stay healthy and active throughout the warmer months."

The walk itself will be this Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group will meet at the Market Square parking lot (at the intersection of River St. and South Main St.).

I think this sounds like a great project we can all enjoy and I love to see young people getting involved in community minded efforts. I'll definitely be there and I hope you will be too!

See you out there!
