Brittany Plante Awarded the Class of 1962 Scholarship

Brittany Plante was awarded the Class of 1962 Scholarship. Mr. Gerard A. Toupin, President of the Class of 1962, presented the scholarship to Brittany at the recent Senior Awards Night at Woonsocket High School.
Mr. Toupin mentioned that the Woonsocket High School Class of 1962 recently held its 50th class reunion and the planning committee was fortunate enough to have extra funds in its reunion account. With the rapidly rising cost of post secondary education, the planning committee felt it would be nice to offer a one-time scholarship to a deserving senior graduating from our alma mater.
Selecting a finalist from those applying was difficult, but Brittany's participation in various extra curricula activities demonstrated her willingness to make a positive contribution to her school and community. She thrived in the Culinary Arts Program and earned a Gold Medal for Commercial Baking in the Skills USA Competitions. She has participated in numerous National Leadership Conferences and has accrued over 100 hours volunteering at a local church, Autumnfest and most recently last summer, serving as a site monitor for the Sodexo Summer Food Service Program.

Her participation in the distribution of school lunches has helped make an impact in ending childhood hunger. The Class of 1962 congratulates Brittany and the graduating Class of 2013 and wishes them all the best in the future.
