Connecting for Children and Families to offer career readiness and physical health classes

Connecting for Children and Families will offer FREE workshops covering career readiness and diabetes prevention

Connecting for Children and Families (CCF) is offering free workshops on both career readiness and the physical well-being of Rhode Island residents.

CCF is currently recruiting applicants for the Northern Rhode Island Career Academy, a workforce training program funded by a Real Jobs Rhode Island grant. The seven-week program is ideal for adults interested in call center and banking careers. Current employer partners include Amica Mutual Insurance Company, Bank of America, Citizens Bank, CVS Health, Navigant Credit Union, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, and Pawtucket Credit Union. CCF has also partnered with the Rhode Island Department of Health and the Woonsocket Health Equity Zone to offer a Diabetes Prevention Program beginning January 30 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Woonsocket Public Library, 303 Clinton Street, Woonsocket. The program, which consists of 16 weekly sessions, is focused on preventing Type 2 diabetes through lifestyle changes such as changing eating and exercise habits. Following the program, there will be six sessions held once per month. Childcare and gas assistance are available upon request.
