Encore: Teacher Of The Year 'Fans' Raimondo & First Gentleman

They're not the Trumps, and the Statehouse isn't the White House. But Rhode Island's Teacher of the Year brought his fan to Smith Hill.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island's Teacher of the Year has brought his fan to another photo-op. But instead of President Trump and the First Lady, this time Nikos Giannopoulos has posed for a picture with Rhode Island's first family. Gov. Gina Raimondo on Tuesday met with Giannopoulos at the State House. Here is the statement from her office:

"Last week, Nikos made headlines by standing up for our state's values on the national stage," the governor's office said. "From his students and colleagues at Beacon Charter High School for the Arts in Woonsocket, to the State of Rhode Island, and finally, to the White House--the entire nation now knows the dedicated, inspiring person that he is. On behalf of the State of Rhode Island, Governor Raimondo thanks Nikos for his dedication to promoting inclusion and acceptance."
