Former Woonsocket Cop Charged with Child Molestation

A 52-year-old North Smithfield man and former Woonsocket police officer has been charged with child molestation and disorderly conduct.

Police said Timothy S. Paul, of Pine St., was arrested after the parent of a 12-year-old victim filed a complaint.

Paul was a police officer until 2009 and had served as chairman of the city’s Autumnfest celebration, the Valley Breeze reported.

Paul is free on $10,000 personal recognizance pending his arraignment before a justice of the peace. He will return to court for a prearraignment conference in September.

Paul was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
