Freshman Injured After Fall From Staircase At Woonsocket High
Officials have provided little information about the incident, citing confidentially laws.

School officials have confirmed that a freshman girl was injured after a fall from a third-story staircase at Woonsocket High School on Thursday morning.
Superintendent Robert Gerardi wrote in an e-mail that a student had “fallen down a staircase at WHS,” that an ambulance was called and that “the high school staff handled the incident correctly.”
Gerardi said he could not provide any other information due to confidentiality laws.

Lynne M. Bedard, the principal at WHS, said all questions had to be directed to Gerardi and she would not comment.
A group of five students who were standing outside Woonsocket High School on Monday afternoon provided more detail, describing the distance of the fall as about 20 feet.

Paloma Peixoto, a freshman at WHS, said she was in her homeroom, right next to the staircase, when she heard a loud noise.
“All I heard was BOOMPH and then I heard people saying ‘Oh my God, Oh my God,” said Peixoto.
The students said an announcement was made later that day to the entire high school, which informed students that school officials had talked to the mother of the girl and that she was going to be OK.
