I have always been a fan of Jurassic Park. From the first time I saw it back in 1993, yes its really that old, I was mesmerized by how the newest technology in special effects cold bring a dinosaur to life the way they should be seen. I still have that feeling each time I watch any of the three movies though the first movie is what brought it all to life.
Now after so many ideas being bantered about by the film makers and studios for a number of years as wondering if there is a place for a fourth 'dino' movie, Jurassic Park 4; Jurassic World has become a reality and will start filming soon.
So what can we gleam from a name like Jurassic World? While the title of the film isn’t necessarily a concrete indicator of its plot, it does seem to confirm the rumor that the plot will have something to do with a now fully functional dinosaur theme park, as per John Hammond’s original vision. (Disney World + Jurassic Park = Jurassic World?) For those who don’t know, here’s a portion of that rumor (which was later confirmed by Paramount to be from an “older draft” of the script):
” ‘Jurassic Park 4,’ set in present day Isla Nublar, is now an actual theme park, as originally intended by John Hammond in the first film. It garners 10 million visitors per year and is completely safe – until it’s not. The park itself is described as very Sea World-esque and includes an area called the Isla Nublar Lagoon. That means underwater dino’s for the first time. No indication of what kind, but there’s concept art showing one of the aquatic dino’s, as part of a show, jumping out of the lagoon and eating a strung up great white shark like it was a fish for a dolphin at sea world.”
I have to say though, that someone that loves the dinosaurs as much as I do and going into a fourth film about them, a Jurassic Park movie that shows us the dinosaur theme park in its prime – just before the mayhem starts, of course – sounds pretty enticing. It’s also a huge step forward from the last film, which was basically a watered down version of the original.
As for the release date, Jurassic World will hit theaters a week before the Assassin’s Creed adaptation and a month after Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Seeing as 2015 will be the biggest movie summer that the world has ever seen – with movies like Batman vs. Superman, Star Wars 7, Terminator 5, Mission Impossible 5, Warcraft, Finding Dory, Ant-Man, Independence Day 2, the Fantastic Four reboot, and more being released – it’ll be interesting to see where all the films without release dates set up shop.
That's about all I know right now. I'll report any new items as I receive them. Let me know what you think about a new Jurassic Park?
Jurassic World hits theaters June 12th, 2015.
