MacCOLL YMCA HOSTS REVIVER CHALLENGE
Sixth-annual event helps build mind and body while helping several charities.

LINCOLN—Are you looking for a good way to test your strength and endurance while aiding several worthwhile causes? Then sign up for the sixth-annual “Reviver Challenge” taking place on Saturday, May 21, 10 a.m. at the MacColl YMCA on Breakneck Hill Road/Rte. 123.
The Reviver Challenge is a race designed to help people run for a cause. Participants compete against themselves in a 2.5-mile course with several tough obstacles. Competitors will climb, crawl, jump, swing, and scale their way through challenging obstacles until they cross the finish line.
Challenge Founder Cat Reyes said the benefits of the event are rewarding.

“It has been my vision to see people of all ages and levels of fitness running a race where other people win,” Reyes said. “Typically, we race for ourselves, but this is a race designed to challenge you, but with all the proceeds going to help other people overcome the true obstacles that life brings them.”
Last year’s event drew several hundred people. Reyes said she hopes more people will turnout for this year’s race. She said events such as the Reviver Challenge are becoming more popular because the tests stimulate the body and mind to work together to overcome the barriers set in front of them

“What makes us unique is that we have created an obstacle course and encourage people to run so that you are actually helping other people by participating,” said Reyes. “It's a fun and challenging course and we are the only obstacle course in RI that allows ALL AGES. Our youngest contestant this year is four years old, and our oldest participant is 61. We want everyone to compete and show that we are all able to persevere and overcome any obstacle that comes our way in life."
The intention of the Reviver Challenge is to gather faith-filled athletes of all ages from all throughout the New England area in hopes of REVIVING their spirits. We designed each obstacle to challenge participants in the areas of flexibility, balance, strength, power, speed, and endurance; and do it in a fun, exhilarating way. Our purpose for this event is to create some physical struggles which are achievable by everyday people.
Register before May 14, and receive reduced admission. Costs for the event are $45 for 18 and over and $25 for entrants under 18. Prices increase after the 14th to $50 for those over 18 and $30 for those under 18. Participants who cross the finish line receive a free handmade lanyard from the Women of Guatemala.
This event takes place rain or shine. Monies raised from this event goes toward several charities, including “The Kids in the Canyon,” “Mayan Families” and “Evan’s Crew” projects.
