Editor's note: This is the first in a series of articles/videos inΒ Woonsocket Patch's coverage of the Sept. 24 Candidates Night, beginning with City Council Challengers.
Lifelong Woonsocket resident and Tax Board of Assessment memberΒ Garrett Mancieri intends to make doing business in Woonsocket easier, increase neighborhood values and overhaul city government as a City Councilor.Β
The Council challenger outlined those goals during the Sept. 24 Candidates Night at Chan's Restaurant sponsored byΒ MyWoonsocket.comΒ and 1380 WNRI, whereΒ Woonsocket voters were formally introduced toΒ candidates in the Woonsocket mayoral and City Council primary onΒ Oct. 8Β and the election onΒ Nov. 5.Β
This is the second time Mancieri has made a bid for a Council seat.Β TheΒ Co-Founder andΒ Vice President ofΒ Gateway Realty isΒ second cousin of State Sen. Roger Picard (D- Woonsocket, Cumberland,) and nephew of Ernest Picard (co-owner of NYS Flowers, Inc.,).
Mancieri's interest in the Council and City politicsΒ has endured in recent years, evidenced by his routine and often activeΒ attendance at Council and Budget Commission meetings.Β
In a recent post on Woonsocket Patch, Mancieri pledged to foster a sound working relationship between the Council and School Committee, and to improve Woonsocket's reputation.
