Roland Michaud fell fiveΒ short of the 100 signatures needed to win a spot on the ballot as a mayoral candidate, so this evening's Candidates Night will only feature three of the four remainingΒ people vying for Woonsocket's top office.
Estelle Corriveau, managerΒ at the Woonsocket Board of Canvassers at City Hall, said Michaud collected a total of 95 signatures, all of which were confirmed. Michaud and the other candidates for Mayor had until Sept. 17 to submit their nomination papers, including the signatures.
Since he has not qualified as a candidate, Michaud has been cut from tonight's Candidates Night at Chan's, said MyWoonsocket.com's editor, Lorraine Corey.Β
Four Mayoral candidates remain: IncumbentΒ Mayor Leo Fontaine, current stateΒ Rep.Β LisaΒ BaldelliΒ HuntΒ (D-Dist. 49, Woonsocket),Β David Fisher,Β and Michael Moniz. Moniz is not attending the forum.Β

Corey and Roger Bouchard will moderate the event. The format: One question βΒ the same question βΒ will be asked of the incumbent City Council candidates.Β One different question will be asked of the new candidates by the moderator.
Mayoral candidates will each ask a question of opposing candidates on two separate rounds.Β
