Here are the top stories today in Woonsocket:

  1. The Rhode Island Police Chiefs' Association shares details about Crash Responder Safety Week, which is taking place this week. Every day, first responders, including law enforcement professionals across the country, like our own Woonsocket Police Department, put their lives at risk while working to clear roadway crashes, debris and other incidents that put all drivers at risk. The Move Over Law is designed to protect those who drive emergency and other designated vehicles. The law requires drivers to slow down and move over when approaching a designated vehicle that is stopped in a lane or on the edge/shoulder of a roadway. Drivers must know to slow down and move over for any vehicle equipped with flashing red, blue or amber lights. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Woonsocket City Council Special Meeting was Monday night. Most topics took place in Executive Session but the topics included "purchasing property" and "collective bargaining/positions" Are there some hot topics here? (onworldwide.com)
  3. One of Gov. Dan McKee's most influential outside advisers, Michael Magee, wrote the initial blueprint for a controversial $5 million state contract that eventually went to his own subordinate's brand-new consulting firm. Mike Magee worked for McKee in Cumberland and helped him launch the Mayoral Academy Charter Schools. (I just happened to be the Director of HR at the time.) (WPRI)
  4. Former RI Priest, 81-year-old James Silva was indicted on two counts of first-degree child molestation and nine counts of second-degree child molestation from his time in our fine State. That's 11 counts folks.(ABC)

Thanks for following along and staying informed with Kathleen Stoddart! I live in Woonsocket and have 3 grown kids and 3 dog babies to keep me busy. I love hardware stores and can be seen checking out all the cool stuff. Being a Realtor, I sort of have an excuse. It's heading into the Christmas season when I get to make baskets of goodies for our service workers and neighbors . Neighbors, please don't think we're crazy but my husband cooks his delicious deep-fried turkey and lowers it into the pot with his hockey stick!
