Jeanne d'Arc (Melancon) Fontaine 87, Woonsocket, died peacefully Saturday surrounded by her loving family at the Miriam Hospital

Jeanne d'Arc (Melancon) Fontaine 87, Woonsocket, died peacefully Saturday surrounded by her loving family at the Miriam Hospital. She was the loving wife of Bernard Fontaine. Mrs. Fontaine was born on September 11, 1924 in Montreal, P.Q. Canada, the daughter of the late Omer and Marie-Anna (Beauchemin) Melancon. She came to reside in Woonsocket at an early age.
She was a 1943 graduate of the former St. Clare High School. She was employed as a clerk at the Taft Pierce Mfg. Co from 1943-1945. She worked at the Woonsocket City Hall in the Tax Assessors office from 1945-1954, and was employed in the office of the Miller Electric Co. as a clerk in the production department from 1978-1988.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons; Andre Fontaine and his wife Suealison of Woonsocket, Pierre Fontaine and his wife Aura, and their daughter Elizabeth Ann of Ardsley, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Fontaine celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept 4, 2004. She is also survived by her granddaughter Wendy Mainella and her husband John, and was the great grandmother of their son McKenzie of Warwick.

She is also survived by two brothers; George Melanson of Boca Raton FL, and Bernard Melancon of Warwick, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the , 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste, Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m.
