Police ID Man, 60, Found Dead in Fire Pit

Woonsocket police said the death of Paul Gignac, 60, who was found face-down in a fire pit outside a Mason Street house on Sunday, does not appear to be suspicious.

An exact cause of death has not been determined and detectives are awaiting results of an autopsy by the state Medical Examiner, police said in a release.

Police said Gignac was was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Woonsocket Fire Department.

Gignac was badly burned as a result of falling into the pit, police said, and the incident is being considered an accident.
