Respected N.C. Restaurateur To Open New Mexican Restaurant In Woonsocket
The restaurant is scheduled to open between May 15 - 20 at the former location of the Brickhouse Grill and Bar.

Woonsocket’s newest restaurant, Plaza Mexico, will be opening next month at 2120 Diamond Hill Road, the former location of the Brickhouse Grill and Bar.
The owner, Hector Alvarez, already has three successful Mexican restaurants in North Carolina and said he’s looking forward to bringing his business to Woonsocket.
“I’m trying to bring the best Mexican food in North Carolina to Rhode Island,” said Alvarez, who noted the grand opening will be sometime between May 15 – 20.

He said the food will include authentic Mexican cuisine and the menu posted on their website confirms that. Options include a variety of XXL burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas and fajitas.
Alvarez, 29, has been working in the hospitality industry since he was 14, when he began work in Raleigh, N.C. as a dishwasher. He said the keys to his success in ownership have been, “The food, the service and a clean restaurant.”

Alvarez also said the bar will be stocked with Mexican beer and different types of Tequilas, which they mix into their signature margaritas. The restaurant will offer daily lunch and drink specials.
He said they will be bringing in a trusted kitchen staff from North Carolina, but are currently accepting applications for 20 wait-staff positions. He’s looking for quality servers and bartenders.
“Pay attention,” said Alvarez when asked what he would like to say to Woonsocket, “The grand opening is coming soon.”
