Chris Roberts, life-long Woonsocket resident and fiscally-minded School Committee member, promised to take a shrewd eye to the city's financial matters Sept.
Roberts touted his experience with the family business, Industrial Oil and Supply, in Woonsocket, which sells industrial lubricants such as motor oil and hydraulic fluid. The business has been operating for four generations and 80 years, the majority of it in the city.
Roberts, who recently purchased a house with his fiance, has served on the School Committee two years. Before that, he was a member of the Zoning Board, serving as Vice Chair when he was elected to the School Committee. For two years before that, he served on the Board of Trustees for the Woonsocket Harris Public Library.
Roberts took aim at entities in the city that pay their CEOs high salaries yet contribute nothing to the city by way of taxes, labeling that one of the problems he aims to solve if elected to the City Council.
