Roberts Aims to Bring Business, School Committee Experience to Council

Editor's note: This is the fourth in a series of articles/videos inΒ Woonsocket Patch's coverage of the Sept. 24 Candidates Night, beginning with City Council Challengers.

Chris Roberts, life-long Woonsocket resident and fiscally-mindedΒ School Committee member, promised to take a shrewd eye to the city's financial matters Sept.Β

Roberts touted his experience with the family business,Β Industrial Oil and Supply, in Woonsocket, which sells industrial lubricants such asΒ motor oil andΒ hydraulic fluid. The business has been operating for four generations and 80 years, the majority of it in the city.Β Β

Roberts, who recentlyΒ purchased a house with his fiance, has servedΒ on theΒ School Committee two years. Before that, he was a member of theΒ Zoning Board, serving asΒ Vice Chair when he wasΒ elected to the School Committee.Β For twoΒ years before that, he servedΒ on theΒ Board of Trustees for the WoonsocketΒ Harris PublicΒ Library.

Roberts took aim at entities in the city that pay their CEOs high salaries yet contribute nothing to the city by way of taxes, labeling that one of the problems he aims to solve if elected to the City Council.
