School Committee Preview

Members of the Woonsocket School Committee will take their new seats for the first time tonight at a 7 p.m. meeting at the Middle School at Hamlet.

Their first act of business will be to elect a chairperson and vice chairperson, and adopts the rules of order. Immediately following, the meeting will go into executive session, scheduled at 7:15 p.m.

When they return to open session at 7:30 p.m., items for new business include the approval for School Committee meeting dates for the upcoming year and the dissemination of School Committee policies.

A new resolution sponsored by Committeewoman Eleanor Nadeau will address the use of electronic equipment during School Committee meetings. Nadeau will discuss a potential ban on electronic devices.

Business Manager Stacy Busby will present a year-to-date budget review for FY 2012.

Another new resolution sponsored by Committeewoman Anita McGuire-Forcier will discuss student discipline at the Superintendent level.

The meeting will be televised on COX Channel on Sunday at 7 p.m. and next Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
