School Vacation Events at Woonsocket Library

Looking for things to do with your preschooler, school age child and teen? We have programs for all ages at the Woonsocket Harris Library.

Monday
11-12pm
Minecraft Author Sean Fay Wolfe talks about his love of Minecraft and
how he became an author while still in high school.

2-3pm
Audubon Society RI presents Birds of Prey. What birds of prey leave near
Woonsocket? Find out at the library. Great for Kindergartners and up as
this is a talk and demonstration.

3-4pm Teen Paint. Mr. Deslauriers will instruct teens ages 11 & up on how to make a
fantastic painting of their own to keep. We supply the materials. Wear
clothes you don't mind getting paint on.

Tuesday
10:30-11:30 Storytime for ages 2-5 years with adult. Listen to stories, play with puppets, make a craft to take home.

2-4pm Coding for Teens by RI Computer Museum. Learn to code with Raspbery Pi. Ages 11-18.

3-5pm
Dungeons & Dragons table top role playing for middle and high
school students. Its not always just the D&D universe. Past
universes include DC Batman Arkham Aslylum, Greek, Roman and Norse Gods,
Star Wars, Marvel, Vampires and more. A whole new universe waiting for
your next adventure at the library. Meets every Tuesday year round.

Wednesday

10:30-11:30am Storytime for ages 2-5 years with adult. Listen to stories, play with puppets, make a craft to take home.

2-3pm
Native American Arts & Culture with Kristen Webb. Learn about
clothing, traditions, drums and make a dream catcher. Ages 4 & up.
Why should the kids have all the fun? This program is great for adults
too.

3:45-430pm Li'l Book Buddies ages 5-8 read with older Teen
Buddies 12-18 and do crafts, puzzles and other fun activities. Book
Buddies is monitored by the Librarian.

Thursday

10:30-11:30am Kids Paint. Mr Deslauriers will
instruct Kids 6-10 on how to make a fantastic painting of their own to keep.
We supply the materials. Wear clothes you don't mind getting paint on.

1:30-2:30
Roller Girl Book Discussion. Its all about the trials and tribulations
of middle school. 12 year old Astrid signs up for roller derby assuming
her friend Nicole will too as they have done everything together. Astrid
grips with learning a new skill, her mom seeing her as a little kid
rather than the mature middle schooler she is and the distancing of her
relationship with her best friend. Sign ups include juice and snacks.

2:30-4pm
Wii Games for Teens middle and high schoolers. Just Dance, Mario Kart,
Super Mario 8 are just a few of the games we have.

6-7pm Tunes & Tales with Anne Marie Forer. The fun begins when you hear the
fiddle. Great music and active movement fun for 7 & under with
adult. Meets every other Thursday.

Friday
10:30-11:30 Music is Fun with Mr. Rowland who brings his guitar and music shakers for little
ones to sing along with him. Adults can sing too. Ages 7 & under
with adult. Meets every other Friday.

2:30-4:30pm Jedi Academy
for Teens where middle and high school students learn stage combat
fighting techniques, make a safe sword and battle with friends.

Saturday
10-11am Zumba for Kids ags 8-12. Kids go in alone with instructor Ms. Collier and have fun
while exercising. Parents can relax with a good book, magazine or get on
the computer while their kids exercise.

2-4pm Lego Builder's Club for ages 5 & up. For safety, everyone must have an adult as
these are the smaller Legos. Build, create, and display your creation
for 2 weeks at library.
