WOONSOCKET, RI — A shooting Wednesday evening involving a police officer in Woonsocket is under investigation by Rhode Island State Police and the Attorney General's office.

Police said the shooting involved a state trooper and happened on North Main Street near East School Street.

No other information was immediately available. Rhode State Police said they will hold a news conference Thursday morning regarding the shooting.
