🌱 Providence Man Arrested With Stolen Car + WSC Meets Tonight

Good morning, Woonsocket! Let's get you all caught up to start this Wednesday, December 15. Here are the most important things happening today in Woonsocket.


First, today's weather:

Some sun, then clouds. High: 44 Low: 40. Wait until Thursday and it will feel like summer!


Here are the top three stories in Woonsocket today:

  1. Officers arrested Thavisack Souphida, 40, of Providence, for multiple warrants after they found him knocking on random doors at the Travelers Motor Lodge on Eddie Dowling Highway.
    They conducted a registration check on his vehicle, and it was stolen out of Seekonk. There were 2 females with him; Emily Gomez, 39, of Providence, ( Souphida had multiple no contact orders with her) and Samantha Chase, 27, of New York. Chase was taken into custody after she tried to strike the officers. There was a stolen 12 gauge shotgun inside the vehicle.
    Emily Gomez was also arrested for multiple charges. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
  2. COVID cases are up 76 percent recently in Providence County according to the CDC. Providence County presently has a HIGH level of transmission. It was only months ago that masks were mandated in public. I wonder why they are not mandated now? (Woonsocket Patch)
  3. A Woonsocket man, Claude Holland,28, pled guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of Christopher "Archie" Archambault, 40. The murder took place in January 2019. Holland, known as X, admitted he thought the victim was a "snitch" which turned out to be false information. Holland was sentenced to 50 years in prison. (The Providence Journal)
