Teen Girl Killed In Woonsocket Shooting Wednesday Night

Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas Oates said a 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in Woonsocket Wednesday night.

WOONSOCKET, RI — A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in Woonsocket Wednesday night. Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas Oates told reporters that police were called to the area of Village Road shortly before 10 p.m. and found the girl with a gunshot wound behind the wheel of a vehicle. Oates said she was transported to Landmark Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Oates told WPRI-TV that there were three people in the car and that the other two people in the car were not injured. Oates said that late Wednesday night, the other two people in the car were assisting Woonsocket police with in the investigation at police headquarters.
