Ukrainian Festival: Traditional Ukrainian food, music, fun!

St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, located at 74 Harris Avenue, Woonsocket, RI will he holding its annual “Ukrainian Festival” on Saturday, September 12th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is free and open to the public. All are invited and welcome to attend.

The popular Ukrainian Kitchen of the Ladies’ Sodality, the women’s guild, will highlight the day’s festivities. The menu will feature many homemade Ukrainian favorites such as varenyky (pierogies), holubtsi (stuffed cabbage), kovbasa (kielbasa) and kapusta (fried cabbage), and much more. The restaurant will provide eat-in or take-out services. There will also be a bake table. Many baked items including a variety of babkas (breads) will be available for sale. There will also be a grill area with traditional barbeque choices.

Children’s events will be available throughout the day.

In addition to food and festivities there will also be a tour and introduction to orthodoxy in our newly restored church which was damaged by fire in November 2012.

Founded in 1941, St. Michael’s parish is a vital part of the Woonsocket community for over severty (70) years. The Church has flourished and prospered within the community, satisfying not only the religious needs of its parishioners, but also contributing to social and civic events in the City of Woonsocket.
