Variety Show At WHS To Benefit Autism Project

Adam Brunetti, knows first hand how music therapy can help those who suffer from Autism. 

Brunetti, a senior at Woonsocket High School, stood before the School Committee last week and explained. "Music has helped me overcome the challenges of my autism."

With friends Ricky Gramstorff and Jamel Williams, Brunetti is organizing a fundraiser to keep these programs around for future WHS students. More than 30 students and alumni performers have already lined up to audition for their Variety Show, scheduled to take place April 8 this year. The fundraiser will benefit the Autism Project of Rhode Island.

"We have a great amount of work done, but we have a lot more to do, and this is where we need your help," Brunetti told the committee.

The trio is seeking contacts for performers, help with services and donations for the event. "Every little bit helps," Brunetti said.

"The Autism Project will be donating the money back to Woonsocket for Autism education for the teachers," he added. "Please help our efforts in any way, shape or form that you can."

Their plea did not fall on deaf ears. Committeewoman Linda Majewski hopes to perform at the event. "As a music therapist, I'd be happy to audition for your show, which I don't do very often."
