Video: URI's 125th Commencement Includes Speech By Woonsocket Native
Highlights from The University's Commencement Exercises this Sunday.
KINGSTON -- The University of Rhode Island celebrated its 125th commencement on Sunday afternoon. Speakers included Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee, URI Hillel director Amy Olson, Woonsocket resident and Rainville Student Employee Leadership Award Winner Valerie Damon-Leduc, and Cory Booker, the mayor of Newark, NJ, and this year's commencement speaker.
3,300 undergraduate and 711 graduate students received their degrees over the weekend. Of those honored during the ceremonies, the following list of 27 students hailed from Woonsocket: Kyle M. Braga, Janet D. Brochu, Erin L. Bruyere, Leslie R. Clark, Valerie L. Damon-Leduc, Kyle R. Dorez, Deirdre Ann Giguere, Cynthia A. Guilbeault, Kyle T. Lacasse, Stephanie J. Lavallee, Ewelina A. Leja, Diane J. Maciejewski, Brittany L. Marshall, Justin P. Martin, Maranda L. McCormick, Chase L. Moltedo, Alysha Morris, Stephanie L. Morris, Linda Nhem, Michelle M. Pelletier, Kristen D. Picard, Diane C. Roberts, Tayla C. Sawtelle, Ashley L. Smith, Lynn M. Thibeault, Jamie L. Thompson, and Kyle D. Turcotte.
