Woonsocket Career Center Students Earn SkillsUSA Medals

Winners competed against more than 525 RI career center students.

 

Seventy students from the recently competed in the Rhode Island State SkillsUSA competitions.

This was the largest state competition to date, with more than 525 students from more than 10 career centers in Rhode Island participating. Woonsocket Career Center students competed in more than 20 different competitions, ranging from Automotive Technology and Graphic Communications to Teamworks and Job Interview.

At the recent Rhode Island State Awards Ceremony, seventeen students from the Career Center earned medals, seven of them gold. Gold medal winners are entitled to compete at the National level in Kansas City in June. These seven students, two teachers, and the state officer for the 2012-2013 School Year will be traveling to Kansas City June 23 for competitions.

Gold Medal winners are:
· Teamworks: Joey Belanger, Josh North, Matthew Sanchez, and Tyler Segee
· Graphic Communications: Courtney Blair
· Television/Video Production: Dan Cullen and Ashby Morales
· State Officer: Brittany Plante
