Woonsocket Library's Leslie Page Makes Appearance On Jeopardy!
Library director realizes dream of competing on favorite game show.
Â
Director Leslie Page realized a long-time wish to be a Jeopardy! contestant July 3 that left her short of the win but with a great story and a trip to Los Angeles under her belt.
The show aired at 7 p.m. on on WPRI Channel 12, pitting her against Leo Velazquez, a theme park ride operator from Orange, CA and Matt Samberg, an attorney from Pittsburgh, PA.

Her 15 minutes of fame were won during a successful online audition Feb. 2011 that led to an in-person audition that May. She had to wait a little longer after that apparently successful contest - she got a call from the game show folks this February.
Page said she figured she had a good chance at making the show. "I watch the show quite a lot and I always know most of the answers," she said.

"I was very excited," Page said. She flew out to Los Angeles for the taping of her episode, and spent a day in Culver City before flying back. She said they film an entire week's worth of episodes in a single day. "They're really good at organizing and keeping things moving," Page said.Â
During the episode she racked up $8,100 before the final Jeopardy category, 1950s Movies. The clue: "The Man on Lincoln's Nose" was a working title for this 1959 film.
Page knew the answer was North by Northwest. "I got it correct, but so did everybody else," Page said. She bet all but $100 of her score, but it wasn't enough for the win.
Among her favorite moments were getting to be on the set, and "Getting to meet Alex Trebek, obviously. He was very nice. He seems like he portrays himself," she said — his television presence is genuine.
Her advice: "If you're thinking about doing it, try it," Page said.
