Woonsocket Man Accused of Raping 10-Year-Old for "Sex Education"

A 52-year-old Woonsocket man is accused of raping a 10-year-old girl to teach her about sex and is now facing charges.
Police said Michael Powell, 52, of Blackstone Terrace Apartment, has been charged with a first-degree and a second-degree count of child molestation and is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.
The Woonsocket Call reported that Powell admitted to having the contact with the child which he said was a form of sex education.

The acts included sexual penetration, according to a police report.
The incidents allegedly occurred on April 11.
