Woonsocket Man Arrested for Child Pornography

The man was arrested on Wednesday morning for allegedly sharing images of child pornography on the Internet.

A Woonsocket man was recently arrested and charged with possession and transfer of child pornography.

Members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a court-authorized search warrant on an Aylsworth Avenue home on Wednesday morning.

Police identified Robert Lavergne, 63, 213 Aylsworth Ave., as the person who allegedly shared images of child pornography on the Internet, according to a press release from RI.gov.

Officials have yet to discover any indications of inappropriate behavior between Lavergne and minor children.

Lavergne will be arraigned at Sixth Division District Court in Providence on Wednesday afternoon.

Lavergne could face imprisonment up to 5 years for the posesion of child porography charges and imprisonment up to 15 years for the transfer of child pornography charges.
