Local Man Arrested for Child Pornography Possession

Members of the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) arrested a Woonsocket Man for possession of child pornography and three counts of soliciting another to commit a crime.

ICAC Task Force arrested Jose A. Marquez Escarcega, 27, of 126 Jenckes St. on Thursday, according to a press release.

Marquez Escarcega was arrested for possession of child pornography, soliciting another to commit a crime (first degree child molestation), soliciting another to commit a crime (production of child pornography) and soliciting another to commit a crime (transfer of child pornography).

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) reported that an image of child pornography was uploaded to an online storage account in the state. The ICAC Task Force members investigated and identified Marquez Escarcega as the person responsible for uploading this image from the Internet connection located at 126 Jenckes St. in Woonsocket.

It was determined that Marquez Escarcega had solicited and paid for a mother to sexually molest her eight year old daughter while he utilized a webcam. The juvenile victim has been identified as residing outside of the United States.

After further ICAC Task Force investigation, Marquez Escarcega was identified as the alleged owner of the digital media in the Woonsocket residence. He was arraigned on the aforementioned charges Friday and was held on $40,000 surety bail with special conditions including no contact with children and no Internet access.
