Woonsocket Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash
34-year-old Darren T. Harris died after crashing his motorcycle on River Street.
WOONSOCKET, RI — A Woonsocket man died Wednesday following a head-on crash with an oncoming vehicle on River Street. Darren T. Harris, 34, died from his injuries en route to Rhode Island Hospital.
According to Woonsocket police, Harris was pulled over around 11:45 a.m. after swerving and driving erratically on River Street. As police approached the motorcycle, Harris sped away, and officers did not chase him.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said Harris crossed the center line of the road near 719 River St., losing control as he went around the bend and hitting an oncoming vehicle head-on. The officer who had just tried to pull over Harris arrived at the crash scene moments later, Woonsocket police said.

Harris was pronounced dead in the ambulance on the way to Rhode Island Hospital. The crash is still under investigation by the Woonsocket Police Department.
