Woonsocket Police Announce 5 Promotions

Woonsocket police announced five recent promotions within the department.

WOONSOCKET, RI — The Woonsocket Police Department announced five recent promotions to go along with recent retirements within the department. John Picard, a 30-year veteran, was promoted from lieutenant to captain as part of the promotions announced by Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, Public Safety Director Eugene Jalette and Police Chief Thomas F. Oates.

Kenneth Marcotte, a 17-year veteran, was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Matthew Richardson, a 16-year veteran, was promoted from detective sergeant to lieutenant. Michael Martinsen, a six-year veterans, was promoted from patrol officer to sergeant. Jesse Nunnemacher, a 12-year veteran, was promoted from detective to sergeant.

Woonsocket also had three members of the department retire on Jan. 1. Capt. Todd Boisvert and Lt. Kyle Stone held supervisory positions that were filled through promotions. Officer David Chattman's position will be filled following the department's recruiting drive and selection for the next municipal police academy in July.
