WOONSOCKET, RI — Thirty-one people will appear before the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal Thursday after Woonsocket Police cracked down on people parking out-of-state registered vehicles in the city long-term.
People were issued citations for parking overnight for longer than a month, police said.
The emphasis on these citations was started earlier this year after a crackdown this past spring resulted in 54 citations.

City officials told NBC 10 that some residents try to avoid paying the state's car tax by keeping their cars registered in another state.
Rhode Island state law requires people to update their car registrations with a change of address within 10 days of moving.
