Woonsocket Police To Wind Down Parade Brigade
With the expiration of the stay-at-home order, an expected increase of police calls will prevent Woonsocket PD from doing birthday parades.
WOONSOCKET, RI — With routine calls and traffic duty down during the six weeks of the state's stay-at-home order, the Woonsocket police have been able to make those with a birthday during the isolating time of social distancing a little better with a lights-and-siren parade.
But with the stay-at-home order having expired, and an expected increase in police calls expected due to increased activity, Woonsocket police said they will be wrapping up the parades after this week.
"It has been a pleasure providing this service during these difficult times," Woonsocket police said on social media. "Members of the police and fire departments have enjoyed the opportunity to get out and see the children of our community on their birthdays. We look forward to seeing you all even more as the restrictions continue to be eased back over the coming weeks."
