Woonsocket's Top Fall Athletes Honored
Mount St. Charles Academy and Woonsocket High School had a combined 57 athletes who received post-season awards.

Receiving post-season honors for achievements in this past fall’s sport season were 57 student-athletes from Mount St. Charles Academy and Woonsocket High School.
The list included seven All-State performers, six of which were female.
The only male to make All-State was Patrick Butler, a cross country runner from Mount. The senior won the Class C title, finished seventh at the state championship and was the 18th runner from Rhode Island to cross the finish line at the New England Championship.

The most heralded athlete from Woonsocket this past fall was Mount’s Kelsey Lace. The senior volleyball player was named First Team All-State and was the clear choice for Gatorade Player of the Year. The 6-footer recorded 281 kills, 116 digs, 80 aces, 39 blocks and posted a .537 hitting percentage.
The setter on Mount’s volleyball team, Carissa Gould, was named Second Team All-State. Teammate Meaghan Walsh made Third Team All-State.

In girls’ tennis, a trio of Mounties garnered All-State honors. Meghan Lydon was named First Team All-State for the second consecutive year. She reached the quarterfinals of the state championship. Teammates Liz Foley and Jill Langin made Second Team All-State.
Lace and Lydon have been nominated for the Cox Sports Player of the Year award in their respective sports.
