Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- Charleston International Airport set a new one-month record in May. The airport surpassed more than 500,000 passengers in one month, for the first time. The record is a significant boost to the airport's goal of having 5 million passengers by the end of 2022. (Charleston Post Courier)
- Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg announced a new city initiative focusing on brain health. The initiative will be organized by the Charleston Office on Aging. The initiative will raise awareness of the four pillars of brain health: social engagement, cognitive learning, physical exercise, and proper nutrition. (Charleston City Paper)
- Charleston County has set aside funds for affordable housing and emergency home repairs. The affordable housing funds total $20 million and the emergency home repair fund totals $3 million. The funds are through the county's allotted American Rescue Plan Act funds. (Live 5 News WCSC)
