CCSO addresses history of calls to Pinewood Drive home where two children were found dead (counton2.com) — Charleston County officials are explaining how deputies handled more than 20 calls to a Pinewood Drive home before two children were found dead there on September 29. The sheriff's office says deputies followed policy and involved Social Services, while acknowledging the tragedy and pledging continued professional, accountable service to the community as the case against the children's mother moves forward.
3. Charleston Congenital Heart Walk set for Oct. 10 at Wannamaker Park to fund research (abcnews4.com) — Charleston-area families can join the Congenital Heart Walk at Wannamaker Park on Oct. 10, raising money for research into congenital heart defects. The family-friendly event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with music, refreshments, kids' activities, and stories from local "heart families" affected by CHD.
4. 'Gothic Gibbes:' Halloween masquerade party coming to Gibbes Museum (counton2.com) — Charleston adults looking for Halloween plans can attend the Gibbes Museum's "Gothic Gibbes" masquerade on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 135 Meeting Street. From 8–11 p.m., guests 21 and over can enjoy a DJ, live violinist, hors d'oeuvres, and open bar, with dark cocktail attire, masks, and optional VIP early access at 7 p.m.
