Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. The Charleston Fire Department won the Battle of the Badges soccer tournament. The competition occurred on Saturday and was hosted by the Charleston Battery. The Mount Pleasant Police Department, Charleston Police Department, and the Charleston Fire Department competed. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. The North Charleston Fire Department reports that a fire near Windsor Hill Plantation has injured an individual while displacing four others. The structure fire occurred on Saturday night on Cumberland Way around 9:53 p.m. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The American Red Cross is assisting the 4 displaced individuals. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  3. The City of Charleston has installed a plaque detailing the history of the Charleston Work House. The location has a horrific past. The Charleston Work House was the place where local slave owners could pay the city to punish their slaves. The plague includes historical research that was reviewed by the Charleston Commission on History. (The State)
