Beautiful South of Broad in Charleston

Tourists from all over the world flock to Charleston to walk through this historic neighborhood.

Author, Pat Conroy, saw the beauty in Charleston and immortalized the historic neighborhood known as “South of Broad” when he wrote, “The tide was a poem that only time could create, and I watched it stream and brim and makes its steady dash homeward, to the ocean.,” in his book, “South Of Broad.”

Tourists from all over the world come to this incredible neighborhood to walk down streets of moss-covered, ancient oak trees, pre-civil war architecture and antebellum plantations. Meeting Street travels down to the Harbor and is lined with historic old mansions, dignified churches, and impressive public buildings leading down to the Battery’s White Points Garden, where cannons on display helped to protect Charleston during the Civil War. Church Street and Tradd Street are some of the prettiest residential avenues in South Carolina and usher you to the colorful homes of the renowned Rainbow Row. The Calhoun Mansion (the largest home in the city, built by a merchant in the late19th century), The Nathaniel Russell Home (open for tours) and The First Scots Presbyterian Church (the 5th oldest church in the city) are all a part of the ambience of the neighborhood.

The beautiful estates in this community are priced from a million dollars to the multi-millions and are not as influenced by market fluctuations as regular homes are.
