Behind the bathroom mirror
Do you have an old person living behind your bathroom mirror?

Today I begin #61. Its hard to believe but in a few years i will be able to apply for Social Security. If you say "Social Security" three times very quickly, it doesn't sound any better. And if that isn't creepy enough, I have this old man who has been living behind my bathroom mirror (for a number of years now). He is a stalker who follows me even when I travel. I don't know how he does it.
Don't get me wrong, getting older has its benefits. You get the door held open for you by 50 year olds (smiley face not required). On the other hand, everytime I see a Girl Scout or Boy Scout I head the other direction afraid they will take my hand and walk me across the street.
Senior Citizen rolls off your tongue but can leave a bitter taste. It can have benefits such as discounts at the movies, grocery stores, the bank, etc. There is, however, confusion as to what is considered the "age" to be considered a senior citizen. Some places its 60 and oithers you have to wait until you are 65.

I never actively though about how I viewed older people when I was young. In a young person's world, many of us become invisible. The odd thing is that many of us don't feel old. Its just our exterior that gives us away. The extra pounds around the middle, the thinning hair and the belt worn inches from your armpits.
Well, I can tell you, that, if you want to give in to the creaking bones, arthritic joints and thickening glasses, go right ahead. I don't give up that easily. As a matter of fact, I plan to take matters into my own hands. Tomorrow, when it is still dark, I am going to hide in the shower and flip the light on quickly and jump that old man who lives behind my bathroom mirror. I'll let you know soon how that works out.

Keep smiling and remember, "It's all good".
