Benefit For Lowcountry Food Bank a Success

Four artists came together this past Saturday for an art sale at Earth Fare to benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB). The tent, tables and screens were unloaded and before we knew it we had the tent up.

We had photography, paintings, books and cards for sale. People heading toward Earth Fare were met by artists who guided them to their work.

The heat was pretty intense but everyone rose to the occasion and did their best to raise money for the LCFB.

Hollis Tuma, Communication and Special Events Manager at LCFB and Hanna Ross, Community Relations Coordinator at Earth Fare, were both so easy to work with. Their positive attitude and energy was infectious. I was really impressed with everything they were able to coordinate and the massive media coverage they organized. 

Hollis Tuma and other people from LCFB bore the heat along with us. They manned a table giving out info about the LCFB, taking donations and offering PGA tickets in a silent auction. Hanna Ross from Earth Fare had been running from one event to another all day. She stopped by many times to check on us and help out. When we last talked around 2:30 p.m., she was heading to another event. 

During the day Channel 4 and Channel 5 had a news crew covering our event. I was interviewed on camera by both organizations. I let them know how important it was to support local artists and to help feed the hungry in coastal S.C. It was a good way to help the Lowcountry Food Bank, Earth Fare and the artists. Whatever they are paying Hollis and Hanna, its not enough.

In addition, on Wednesday, Aug. 1, I will be setting up my art show and sale inside the cafe at Earth Fare through the end of September. I am continuing to donate 20 percent of my sales to the LCFB. I am also donating a 20 x 30 framed print entitled, "West Ashley Sunset" for a silent auction. Bids can be made by contacting me or Hanna Ross at Earth Fare. Bidding starts at $200. The winner will receive the piece at the end of the 2-month sale.
