Boy 6, Raises $10K in 1 Day at Lemonade Stand:For Father With Cancer

A son's love" Priceless

This morning I was on my laptop with CNN playing  in the background.  Then, I heard this story that had been picked up initially by CBS News.  It appears that 6 year old Drew Cox of Texas raised $10K in one day selling lemonade to help with his father's bills for expensive cancer treatments.

He knew his father was sick and needed the expensive treatments and he wanted to help pay the bills.  So, he opened his lemonade stand.  All he knew was that his father has to go away from time to time and get treatments.  The family has health insurance but are still going to face thousands they will have to pay.  Drew's father has undergone four series of treatments and will have more done in May.

Drew's family had no idea how popular the stand would be.  People kept stopping by all day and one person left a check for $5000.

His father was really touched by his son's efforts on his behalf.  He has tried to explain to his children that he is sick and cannot do as much with them as he would like to do.  This has to be tough on any family but, with young children, they just don't understand why daddy doesn't spend much tiime with them.

Little Drew is setting a good example for all of us.  A son's love for his sick father is so great that he wants to help in the only way he can, selling lemonade.  The stand made $10K in one day but that child's love for his father is PRICELESS.  If that story doesn't bring a tear to your eye...it certainly did for me.

If you have a father, hug him and tell him you love him.  I wish I could.
