Check Out a Book Without Coming into the Library?

They're here! Staff here at the Charleston County Library have been fielding questions for months about the impending arrival of e-books and I am happy to report that you can now download your book onto your Nook, Sony Reader, IPad, Kindle or whatever other compatible device you own. CCPL is offering more than 1,200 books for download through the library’s OverDrive eBook catalog, including best sellers, new releases, children’s books and the classics and we will be regularly adding titles. Two e-books can be downloaded at a time and two e-books can be placed on hold. Books are “checked out” for a maximum of 14 days, after which the electronic files automatically expire. So no late fees! If no one else has a hold request for the book, residents can check the book out for an additional 14 days. To download a book, all patrons need to have is a current CCPL Library Card in good standing.
