The City of North Charleston has a pop up art co-op going on at the Meeting Place, 1077 E. Montague Street, North Charleston, SC Fridays and Saturdays through the end of May 2012. You can see and purchase all types of art from over a dozen local artists. Come visit me from 11 am to 7 pm and take home a wonderful piece of local art. If you want to support your local businesses, this is a great opportunity.
I stopped by The Meeting Place on Friday to visit with the artist running the co-op. Each artist agrees to spends one day running the co-op. This event is supported and organized by the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department. Their employees have been very busy helping get this organized, set up and staffed. I have dealt with Ms. Anne Trabue Nelson and Ms. Ann Simmons. Both have worked tirelessly to make this a successful show.
This co-op is only a small portion of what the N. Charleston Cultural Arts Department handles. I know first hand since I am participating in some of their future efforts. Coming up on May 9th, is a reception for The Meeting Place Artists. It will take place at the co-op from 5-8 pm during the North Charleston Art Walk. On that night, other artists will be showing and selling their artwork along E. Montague Street.
