Health & Fitness

I'm Tired of Being Fat

Fat photographer is over-developed.

Growing up and all through college I was fairly thin.  So, since I have been out working, I have been growing up but also growing out.  I can't blame anyone else.  No one forces me to eat.   I don't eat because I'm hungry.  I just like the taste of food.

In about 1996 I started developing health problems as a result of my weight.  I have gone on one diet after another and been very successful only to gain a fair amount of the weight back.  I am a bit lighter than I was when I met my wife in 1998 but have had some pretty large swings in the numbers.

I know what I have to do but getting started and staying focused is a big problem.  I also like sweets, especially pastry.  That is my downfall.  I also have to give a lot of credit to cookies, ice cream, bagels, bread, etc.  If I made all of my own meals, I would be eating meals mostly devoid of veggies.  I am not a big fan.  I will eat a salad but tend to lean toward the starter vegetables.

Portion control is a problem.  If you measure out a serving of cereal it's hard to find it in the bowl.  It's way down at the bottom of the bowl where no light can penetrate.

Ok, here's the deal.  I am asking my readers to give me a helping hand.  If you see me at Kaminsky's with a plate of sweets, I authorize you to take it away from me.  If you see me at McDonalds with nine cheeseburgers from the value menu, take it away from me.  You get the picture.  It's a cry for help.

Send me your helpful hints and suggestions regarding ways I can lose weight without becoming a marathon runner.  I have been pretty good the past two days even though we were out of town through Monday.  On our way back from Atlanta, we stopped in Augusta and ordered burgers at Five Guys.  We make a conscious decision to NOT order the killer fries.  I was feeling so saintly as I ate my double cheeseburger.
